Sparrow is finally here...!!!

 Hello friends and family.

Jane and I are delighted to welcome the arrival of MacKenzie Jack to their family. Previously known as 'Sparrow', the wee lad arrived a couple of weeks earlier than planned today (April 2, 2011) at 1325 h.

He was a healthy 3600 gm (7 lb 6 oz), 50 cm long, and has his Dad's head and feet. Head is 35.5 cm in circumference, and feet are big, broad and flat! Everything is in place- ten fingers, ten toes, good palate, a couple of descended testicles, etc. Lets just say he had good breeding from both sides of the family!

Jane broke her waters at 0500 h on the morning of 1 April, and had to call her boss to tell him that she wasn't going to be at work for her last day. He thought it was an April Fools Day prank at first, but soon realised that error!...

All up, the labour lasted 30 hours, and went from the completely natural birthing suite to the general ward epidural. It is all worth it, as we look at our beautiful baby boy!

See below for a couple of photographs in chronological order:

There has to be food here somewhere, dammit!
Mackenzie on the scale. Now about 80 minutes old

Proud Dad. Son flipping the bird...

Jane finally thinking the last 30 hours were worth it!

Our beautiful boy. He's worked out where lunch comes from, and now needs a sleep

Can get your attention...

Again- has lungs!

Me & my boy!

And again- he has just shied away from the first flash of the camera
Thanks to all for well wishes. We look forward to being able to introduce MacKenzie Jack to you all in the near future.

  1. Excellent, go MacKenzie! Our warmest congratulations to you all, and bestest wishes for the adventures ahead. Fatherhood rocks - and you know it already Quentin. Fast recovery Jane and looking forward to hearing your voices (including some lung power from the boy wonder). Will save any bird flipping 'til we see you! Love A, Shelley & Jaz.
